Lightfallen Inquisition - Chapter 5
"You saw an undead? Aren't those supposed to have died out after the first invasion?" I asked him.
He looked at me, smiled, then shook his head. Although I had heard from many of my peers as I was growing up, that undead were but legend, and that since the arrival of the Seraphs, dark magic had all but been vanquished... I believed him.
I finished my tea, leaned forward and put the mug back on the table by the bed. The old cleric hadn't touched his drink since he began the story, I was starting to wonder if it had gotten cold, but I let him continue the tale.
Konor and Coldrin continued into the forest. The starlight was hidden above the dense canopy of the darkened trees. Coldrin lit the way by raising his hammer and illuminating it with light, but still the darkness surrounded them, and beyond the reach of the light, Konor had no idea what creatures lie in wait.
Sorkara led them to a cave at the bottom of a small ravine. The thick, yet unnatural moss and plant life surrounding them p

Lightfallen Inquisition - Chapter 4
"Good to know that there was a light in the darkness, so to say," I said.
The old man smiled, he leaned back in his chair and caressed his chin as he took a glance at the skull. He stared at it almost as if he was listening to it speaking to him, listening like I had been to him this whole time. Though of course, no words were said. Perhaps he was simply trying to remember what happened next, or perhaps he had fallen silent in contemplation about what he could remember. It seemed like several minutes before he began to talk once more, and in that time I had grabbed the pillow and leaned it against the wall for me to rest on.
"Well it wasn't too hard to find the woman," he said. "My memory is a little hazy but I do know that we found her that night."
Coldrin and Konor set off after taking a moments rest. They followed the road, keeping an eye out for any signs of life. There was activity in the shadows, but nothing to give them a clue about the woman's whereabouts, that is until they ca

Lightfallen Inquisition - Chapter 2
The old Cleric leaned forward and wove his fingers together. "This was about fourty years ago, when I was a younger lad like yourself," he said. "My father, an important Cleric in the Order of the Sacred Sun, sent me out into the plagued lands of southern Greyshire, to find a woman, strong in the light but with only six blackguards."
I leaned back against the wall, my legs crossed, sitting on the bed. He sipped from his tea, and I did the same.
"I travelled with Sir Coldrin, a knight of the order. Stout, brave, but rather foolish, was he."
"Konor... Konor!" said Coldrin. Konor snapped out of his daydream and turned his gaze from the monsterous, darkened tower before them, to the knight riding along side him.
"Sorry, sir."
"Pay attention, we are about to enter the Vilewood." He pointed ahead, just beyond the ominous tower, at the blackened forest of charred wood and thick mist.
Konor's hands began to shake as he gripped the reins. He had not been out in the field before, spending

Sorkara: The Light of Hope - prologue
Sorkara pushed open the arched doors that led out onto the courtyard of her base. Soldiers marched hastily towards their posts, her officers prepared themselves and their troops for battle. The high walls of thick oak and stone did little to ease her racing mind. She envisioned those very walls crumbling down, the great tower on the hill at the rear of the base, falling, and the keep in which she had lived for several weeks now, being occupied by the Greyshire rats. She hadn't planned on letting any of that happen, not while she was still alive and in command.
Her very presence inspired most of the soldiers as they beheld her. She was not only their Commander, but a Seraph of the light, and the oldest daughter of their King. Her signiature black and purple plated armour, and two-handed longsword were enough to strike fear into the enemy, as upon seeing it, they knew that they were facing an angel of death.
One of the wall towers was struck by a cannonball, and a small section of it cru

Lightfallen Inquisition - Chapter 1
The old Cleric swept the dust from his window frame vigorously and paid me no mind as I sat up in the bed to sooth my aching pains with the mug of steaming tea he had offered me moments before.
My gaze lingered on the skull inside the glass cabinet with a golden-hilted dagger buried in the crown. It took me several minutes before I decided to ask about it.
"That thing?" he said, ceasing his cleaning. "Pure evil."
He had given me shelter in his home from the storm the night before, and I did not want to betray his kindness by asking questions that he may not have wanted to answer. Still, the sigil of a red phoenix emblazoned on the dagger's hilt seemed familiar to me, and my curiosity could no longer be contained.
"Why keep it in your house, then?" I asked.
He sat down in the polished wooden chair opposite, leaned back and inhaled through his nose. I stared down at the floating herbs in my tea, no longer expecting an answer.
"Are you willing to listen to an old man talk for several hour

The Guardian of Flame: Prologue
Prince Varron Fordros of Kanzlo had been living the life of royalty for all eighteen years of his life, and he still hated it.
Varron waited outside the great doors of the throne room, flanked by two Fordrassian guards in black armour, staring ahead. His eyes fixed on the crimson Phoenix emblazoned on the wood.
He fussed with his hands by his chest and twisted his torso left and right, eyeing the two guards. He had raven-black hair with a week of untrimmed stubble on his face, and he was dressed in royal plate of a matching colour to the guard's armour. The same red phoenix from the door was displayed on his chest-piece, and upon his back was mounted a six-foot halberd with a crescent blade.
The bruises on his body were a painful reminder of his many defeats, often at the hands of his brother during sparring practice. Now, he awaited the results of his training and several verbal and written tests. His brother had left the palace just as Varron arrived, and he had told him which elemen

Groups

Thinking about starting up a group for those of us who can't draw, but love writing.

It'll be good to meet other writers, critique their work and talk about literature together :D
